Andover Firm Tactician Puts Rand McNally Atlas Online

Tactician Corporation, which has been headquartered in Andover since 1988, has recently powered Rand
McNally's first online commercial atlas.
This new product line includes an interactive model that allows people access not only to maps, but to
data on demographics, economics and business.
The locating process will now be significantly faster and therefore become a benefit for businesses
throughout the world, according to Tactician. Companies with national franchises such as banks, restaurant
chains and gas station owners will be able to use the information to make strategic business decisions
such as where to expand in the country, it said.
With the days of needed library trips for informational books almost over, Rand McNally knew the best
way to increase the number of people who use their tools and information, would be to make their products
available online. Tactician's Chief Operating Officer Stephen Webster said the product was developed in
collaboration with Rand McNally and Devonshire.
"There is content in a Rand McNally atlas that you can get offline, and there is about 100 times the
content that you can get online. There are tremendously enhanced applications. Depending upon what business
challenges you have, that's really how people leverage the technology and the software. This program has
the tools and the data to accomplish great tasks," said Webster.
Webster says the commercial atlas is user-friendly. It is all web-based and includes online help. "We
adopt sort of a user approach to things, so it really walks you through step by step. As you become a more
sophisticated user, there are other things that you can do with very powerful software tools," he said.
"With regard to the commercial atlas, we're privileged and honored to be able to work with a company of
that longstanding credibility and become a technology specialist for them to help them launch the products
into the market," said Webster.
