Using Tactician Online Business Rules
Saving Settings with Business Rules
A Business Rule is a default set of mapping and reporting criteria designed for a specific industry. When you are creating analyses and reports in Tactician Online, you can select a Built-in business rule for a specific industry, or make custom analysis settings and save the settings as a Personal business rule. In future analyses, you can load a Personal business rule to make analysis settings. Tactician Online applies the custom settings to your project, so you can spend time focusing on your project results.
The following components of the analysis are saved in a business rule.
- The number of perimeters around each site.
- The type of perimeter (radial, Travel Time, or built by threshold) around each site.
- The size of each site perimeter.
- The criteria that geographic units must meet to be included in your analysis. For example, only include ZI
- Codes where the population is greater than 10,000 and the per capita income is greater than $34,000.
- The data variable to display on maps.
- The method of classifying mapped data.
- The report to generate.
Saving a Personal Business Rule
If you have made settings in your analysis that you will want to use again, you can save them as a business rule.
To save a personal business rule:
- In the Specify Trade Areas step, click Save Rules. The Save Business Rules dialog box appears.
- If the Save Current Values for section displays, select:
- All Pages - to save the rules value to all pages of the report wizard.
- This Page - to save the rules value to only this page of the report wizard.
- In the Save As text box, type a name for the rules you created.
- Click Save to return to the wizard.
Applying a Built-in or Personal Business Rule
You can select business rules to apply to your trade area boundaries according to the industry you are analyzing, or load a personal business rule that you have saved.
To apply business rules:
- At the top of the tab, click Load Rules. The Load Business Rules dialog box appears.
- If the Choose a set of default values... section displays, select:
- All Pages - to display rules for the industry you choose each time business rules display.
- This Page - to only display the rules you choose on the current page.
- Use the Business Rule Name list to select the rules you want to apply. The perimeter values display in the Perimeters Rule section.
- Click Load to load the business rule you selected.
